About Me:
Hello!
I always find it difficult to write these little blurbs about myself…always wanting to “put my best foot forward”, I tend to only write about all the positive things in my life, making me sound a little like I'm bragging about myself. So bear that in mind when you read through this.
I'm married (22 years) to my high school sweetheart, with two teenagers, Devon (21) and Kate (19). We're vegetarians…lacto-ovo, specifically. Lately I've been moving more toward vegan, though not completely yet…it's sort of evolving.
We have several sweet 4-legged family members, as well…Tobias, 9, a small mixed breed brown and black dog…Roxie, 4, also small mixed breed (jack russel/dacshund) black and white dog…Daisy, 1 year old black lab…Sophie (gray calico) and Willie(black and white, long hair), 9 years old, (litter mates) cats and Godzilla, 7, (black and white) cat.
My family is so important to me. I think we're very close. I miss having my kids live at home. :(
I'm so proud of the adults my kids are growing into! Devon is in his sophomore year in college, with plans of transferring to SUNY Purchase, for art next fall. Kate, a freshman in college, wants to be a high school art teacher. They are both such creative, kind, considerate, loving human beings.
My husband is an amazing chef. (He is uncomfortable with this term, as he did not attend a culinary institute…however, his 20+ years of experience more than makes up for his lack of degree.) He is a very gentle, passionate, loving, peaceful man and fantastic father. I'm honored to be his wife.
I have worked in special education for the last 15 years, currently working with 9-12 year old children, in a behavioral adjustment program. Although this work is very challenging, I find it so rewarding, too. (This is not to say that I'm not completely ready for summer vacation each June!)
We live in a very small city, in upstate NY. In fact, over the summer, when the two local colleges let out and all the students leave, I'm not even sure if there are enough residents for it to still be considered a city! We live center “city”, which is a big change for us, moving here from my grandparents' farm in the country. (People around here laugh when we refer to this as “the city”, but to us, it really is!)
We've been here for almost 8 years now and I'm just beginning to really feel the pull to the country again…I guess I'm forgetting about the cold drafty old farm house during the winter months…or the perpetually dusty, dirty car (from traveling up and down the dirt roads) and all the inconveniences of living in the country. We'll definitely stay here for a few more years. Then perhaps we'll look at the possibility of moving to the country again. Perhaps…
I guess this is enough info for now…I'll add more as time allows. I look forward to meeting many like-minded people!
In Peace, Light and Love,
Kim
